How about crack-the-whip and marbles at recess, rafting down the river on an air mattress, the smell of a campfire and a burnt hot dog or marshmallow, playing baseball at the corner field (or empty lot), the ice cream truck, Saturday matinees at the movie, jumping into the lake, swimming in the pond, and your first car being an old rust bucket that broke down more than it ran, but you were still glad to have it. We talk about this a lot in my family, and how life today is kind of sad. I wish we lived in a society that wasnt so scary. Hopefully we can get back to it some day, but I doubt it. Just do the best we can to keep our families close and happy and make good memories. Their way, way back list looks kind of sad compared to ours, but I dont want to think about what the futures list will look like. Glad I got to grow up when I did. Not all the memories are pleasant, but glad I was able to do all I did.
