How about these 4 new signings to get us into title competition - TopicsExpress

How about these 4 new signings to get us into title competition next season?? 1.Goalkeeper. I’m sure majority of Arsenal fans would agree this is a position we need to strengthen. Not because current number 1 Szczesny isn’t a very gifted keeper, on the contrary, I’m sure he’s the future long term answer. What he does so desperately need is an experienced keeper to bring him on and mentor him into the undoubted top class keeper that he will invariably turn into. Julio Cesar could be the answer. He’s a class keeper with years of experience for both Brazil and Inter Milan. He was voted 3rd best keeper in the world in 2009 (not a trophy but still an achievement) and was also nominated for a Ballo d’Or in the same year-no mean feat for a keeper. His age would enable him to pass on his experience without hindering Szczesny’s progress. With QPR keen to reduce the wage bill, Arsene could snap him up relatively cheaply. 2. Defender. With all the rumours around the departure of Sagna, Arsene would be prudent to look around for a ready-made replacement. Where better to look than at 1 of your main competitors? Micah Richards is the strong, dynamic defender Arsenal have been missing. His strength, pace and versatility would mean he could play centre half or full back with equal ease. His well documented support of Arsenal from a young age would also see him as a popular choice with fans. He’s struggled through injury and form to force his way into City’s team but a move to North London to push for contention for a World Cup spot may make it an attractive move for both parties. Plus the new Man City manager maybe under pressure to sell before buying-so he might not be as expensive as most people would fear. 3. Centre Midfield. Most Arsenal fans would point to this position as being the most desperate for a new signing. With Diaby seemingly always on the treatment table, a big physical midfielder is a must. For too long we’ve had to put up with lightweight replacements ensuring that we get bullied and pushed off the ball far too easily (Denilson anyone?). Maroune Fellaini is the exact player Arsenal have been lacking. A present day holding player needs to be strong, physical with a slight nasty edge-all the facets Fellaini has in his locker. Couple these traits with quick, young, good in the air and contributing goals, then you have a player that Arsenal should break the bank for. Only shadow on the horizon comes in the form of David Moyes and United. But if you don’t try, then you deserve to fail. 4. Last and by no means least is the need for a top class striker. We now have ‘Plan B’ players in the form of Giroud and the possibility of using Theo’s pace through the middle, but what Arsenal need is the focal point of attack, a player who can bring other’s into the game but will still score 20+ goals every season. Step forward Higuain. His goal scoring ratio at Real (107 in 187 appearances) and his young age (25) makes him a very attractive proposition. He’s not the tallest (6’ 0”) but he’s strong, quick and can bring others into the game. He’d be the ‘main man’ at Arsenal and would really be the marquee signing the fans are after. His suggested fee at £19 million (according to Jeremy Wilson from The Telegraph) represents massive value when you consider shirt sales and potential commercial tie-ins. Plus his salary would be considerably off-set by the departure of Arshavin/Denilson.
