How do these guys always miss the elephant in the room. JJ spends all this time trying to show that well Americas annexation of Hawaii was ok because that was a time of empire and then deciding Israels annexation of Jerusalem not ok because of modernity and then claiming that other states like Morocco or Indonesia that annexed new areas are kind of ok because the area they conquered were ethnically compatible regions. Umm...no...Mr. JJ, they werent. There is a reason there is a simmering resistance to Morocco in W. Sahara; because it isnt the same even though maybe they all look the same to you. And, no, Papua is not ethnically the same as Indonesias ruling elites...although, again, maybe they all look the same from New York City? What JJ of course misses in trying to find excuses...is the big elephant. The fact that Hawaiians, even if they didnt like it initially, were eventually given the vote, could own land, received equal rights, became citizens. Maybe that took a while, Im not a Hawaii expert and surely the politics of race has its own Hawaii elements, but in the end of the day, Hawaiian indigenous people are Americans. They vote in elections, they have citizenship. Arab East Jerusalemites are not, for the most part (90%) Israeli citizens, they are residents which implies they are not permanent. Only 2% vote in elections. There is not one on the city council. Their schools are manifestly massively more poor...they have few street signs in their neighborhoods...they have only four post offices for 300,000 people. I mean, how can 300,000 people not have street signs in their neighborhoods??? And the annexation, or what is called the liberation/re-unification of Jerusalem, happened almost 50 years ago.
