How do we react as Muslims to these street attacks against Muslim sisters and brothers? This is a question some of our youth wondering no doubt. Lets remember that if Allah made us as mighty kings for being Muslims, the whole world will be a Muslim, but for power and dunya and not for Allah! That is why Allah tries us with hardship so only the true believer sticks through it without abandoning their devotion to Allah. Likewise, He tries us with comfort whether we forget Allah in times of comfort. Given that we will be tried in our dedication to Allah with hardship, lets remember these times are such trials even as the Sahabah faced in Makkah from some ignorant people from Quraysh. Some sahabah were even killed! Yet the Prophet (s.a.w) advised the Muslims, صبرا يا آل ياسر فإن موعدكم الجنة Be patient O family of Yasir for verily your promise is Paradise! Note the Prophet didnt say kill back the Quraysh! He did not say seek revenge. He merely advised to be patient. Why? One reasons is because this is what this life is created for, that is to be tried in our preference of Allah above all others! So do you stop wearing hijab for people or keep wearing it for Allah, etc! So in our times now, lets have patience and be reassured that these tests were promised by Allah and are here. Our role is to bear them with patience without revenge or illegal retaliation, just as the Prophet and Sahabah bore it so with sincere patience. Allah promised us a life to live it up but in Paradise. As for this life, the name of the game is trials and test of us choosing the love of Allah above other harmful haraam temptations!
