How long is it going to take before we realise this incredibly wasteful, debt fuelled, unsustainable, corrupt and cancerous system is eventually going to kill the planet and as a result, us. The infinite growth paradigm that we live in on cannot and will not last forever and therefore I have to question the legitimacy of its very existence. Especially when the particular system in question truly benefits only bankers, corrupt politicians and giant corporations and leaves so many behind leaving many without access to the basic necessities to live a healthy life. How large does the debt bubble have to grow to, how big does the gap between the 99% and 1% have to get, how many people have to die in wars over oil and energy, how much of the air and sea needs to get polluted and how much of the planets precious resources have to be consumed before we realise this system no longer serves the interest of us all and future generations? The mass inequality I have witnessed since travelling has opened my eyes to the devastating effects of this system and I cant help but wonder that humanity can do better than this.
