How often folks, do we pray asking God to remove or reduce a burden, distraction or idol from our hearts. And then, later on, try and take it back? For me, sadly more often than I would like to admit. The truth is, that we cling to this worlds false security and promises of joy and substance because of sin, deception and comfort. So, even if worldly promises fail us (which they always will), they draw us to them with a detailed sales pitch and false comfort/joy or life satisfaction promises. What then, needs to happen? Well, simple, we need to recognize the lies and hold them up to the light of truth for a REAL, comparison. For instance, I always tell people when buying tech to make comparisons, look at specs, and consumer reviews before making long term tech investments. To see if youre just being suckered in by a brand name, thats all paint and no package. Same thing applies to idols and distrations from God, we need to know the difference between truth from God with substance to last. And unfulfilling lies from this world that are nothing more than empty buckets. The bucket can try to sell itself to you as something you cant exsist without, but the truth says, its still just an empty bucket.
