How would our marathoners have done had they been there ? I ran the route again this morning - 2 lap course - light rain, cool, rolling course - The Aussies beating Africans in the Marathon? Winning times not frightening... Could some of our women gone under 2:30? Yep i think two could have? Could our men have beaten 2:12? So why werent they there? Its not SASCOCs job to put forward the nominations... The Criteria was set after London 2012 -- So why no marathoners at the Commonwealth games? It was up to athletics leadership (sic) to nominate and even debate the criteria if need be - The criteria was NOT top 5 in the commonwealth as it had been changed to account for Kenyan domination. .... so who were the people accountable from ASA that failed the athletes? President? Wanna-be President of the interim committee - that was to look after athletes? Road Commission chair/ acting chairs? - Or perhaps the athletes didnt want to use a marathon effort on the games? However.... This was a chance to get good (championship) experience, good times, good competition, the honour of representing our country, a medal and even a bonus --- who took their eye off the ball?
