Howdy Members, Friends and Followers of the H/GC Section of ASLA! With the last days of Summer winding down, this means activities for upcoming events and activities for our Section will begin gearing up. The first event that is fast approaching is Park(ing) Day 2013. As some of you may know, last year ASLA teamed up with BetterHouston and Parks By You to orchestrate one large installation in downtown Houston that received coverage by the Houston Chronicle. chron/opinion/editorials/article/Let-s-transform-our-asphalt-wastelands-3884826.php ASLA would like to see if there is interest in participating in the global event this year. It would be great to kick off the year by branching off and tackling the event as an organization and promoting our local section of ASLA. This year the event will be on Friday, September 20th and is rapidly approaching. If so, please respond to either myself at cathyc@landscapeforms or Eric Perez at eperez@swagroup so we can begin setting up idea charettes and “volunteer days” ,as needed, to ensure the event is a success.
