A street shrine was erected in their honour and local writer Rob Bell used to deliver papers and pass the scroll of names every day. Years later, he decided to explore the story more and the Poetry Collection Sharp Street took shape. This talk provides a general context about Hull and the First World War and moves on to illustrate the impact of the war on the community both in the trenches and on the home front.
