The travellers were due to board an Emirates flight to Dubai from Terminal One at Manchester Airport at 8:45am this morning. However a technical fault with the aircraft meant it never took off. And after several hours waiting in the airport terminal, the passengers were told they would have to board a coach to Heathrow in order to catch an alternative flight. A couple have now hit out at the airline saying the disruption has added hours to an already marathon journey. David Cook, 50, and his wife Janet, 48, from Glossop were setting off on a one month visit to to see their 30 year-old son Michael who lives in Perth. David said: We were at Manchester airport at quarter past six in the morning ready to go. Then six hours later we were still there having gone nowhere and having no clue what was going on. It was then we were told we would have to get on a bus to London. We had to walk right over to the other side of the airport to catch the coach. Were just really angry. Travelling to Australia is long enough without having to wait for hours in the airport and travel down the country on a bus is just added stress that we didt need. Weve been looking forward to this trip for months and well lose a day of time with our son now. Its so frustrating. I wouldnt mind but the staff werent helpful at all and didnt keep us informed about what was going on. A spokesman for Emirates said: Emirates flight EK022 from Manchester to Dubai was delayed due to technical reasons. Passengers have been re-accommodated on alternative Emirates flights to Dubai, EK018 from Manchester and EK030 from London Heathrow. Emirates provided bus transport for passengers who were rescheduled to depart from Heathrow. Emirates apologies for the inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised.
