Hurriyat (G) condemns ‘crackdown, police raids’ Srinagar, July 25: Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani today strongly condemned the crackdown and police raids on the residences of the Hurriyat leaders and activists on the eve of “Youm-ul-Qudus” as an act of state terrorism of the administration. “He said that it has now become the routine of the government to restrict the movements of the pro-freedom people on Friday and deny them to perform their religious duties. It is the interference into their religious affairs”. In a statement issued to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir Geelani said that police have launched crackdown on the entire pro-freedom leadership particularly the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leaders and activists have become main target for them. “I was today again stopped for the 15th time in this year to offer the Friday congregational prayers”, Geelani said. “Tehreek-e-Hurriyat general secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar and secretary public relations Altaf Ahmad Shah have been put under house arrest while as acting district president Baramullah, Shah Wali Mohammad have been detained in police station Sopore, tehsil president Bijbehara Sabzar Ahmad, tehsil president Kupwara Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Atif Ahmad Islamabad and Idrees Jan Mir Dardpora Kupwara have also been arrested and he strongly condemned this police action”. Meanwhile Geelani also expressed his satisfaction over the state wide peaceful protest demonstration of people against the Israeli barbarism in Palestine on the eve of last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan as “Youm-ul-Qudus”.
