Husband arrested for slaughtering wife in Lalmonirhat Wife fighting for life in RMCH Our Correspondent, Lalmonirhat A husband was arrested allegedly for slaughtering wife at besides a bamboo cluster at Harati Fakirtari village of Lalmonirhat sadar upazila at around 10.30 pm on Friday night. The wife was saved luckily is now fighting for life in Rangpur Medical College Hospital RMCH. Victim’s father Akbar Ali lodged a case in this connection with the Lalmonirhat sadar thana on the Friday night, police said. The victim is identified as Achhiya Begum,18, daughter of Akbar Ali residence at Harati Fakirtari village in Lalmonirhat sadar upazila. The arrested husband is identified as Sabuj Shaikh,26, son of Abdus Sobahan Shaikh residence at New Jummapara in Rangpur town, he is owner of Sabuj Garments at Salek Market in Rangpur. Police said, the victim was married with the arrested person seven months ago. The husband took away his wife Achhiya Begum to enjoy Eid holiday at Entertainment Park in Lalmonirhat town on Friday night. On the way to the victim’s parents home at Harati Fakirtari village, the husband forcedly took his wife at besides a bamboo cluster and tried to kill her through slaughtering at near the home. Hearing the sought of the wife, local people rushed on the spot and rescued her in critical condition, and caught the husband and he was handed over to the police on the night. The on duty doctor of emergency department in Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital Dr. Rezaul Karim said, the victim was slaughtered but she was saved luckily. She was referred to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital immediately on the night as her condition was deteriorated, he said. The victim’s father Akbar Ali didn’t confirm behind the reason of the incident. He donated handsome amount to his son in-law for running his business well four months ago, he said. Confirming the incident the Sub-Inspector SI in Lalmonirhat Sadar thana Abdul Quddus said police trying to trace out behind the reason of the incident. Police interrogating to the arrested husband in police custody, he said.
