Hyuk & Hongbin interview (K-BOY Paradise Vol. 10) Tell us your first impressions of each other. Hongbin: I met Hyuk when he first came in for an audition. At the time, he was wearing clothes his sister made him wear and I saw him saying “My sister made me wear this” so I thought “He’s still a kid~” (laughs) Hyuk: Oh you were there that time? Hongbin: Yes because I was a trainee. Hyuk has an aura where he tries to make people laugh at lives or on shows. And.. (laughs) Hyuk: (sensing that Hongbin is going to reveal something about him) OH I will answer next! I first met Hongbin at the dorm. Since he has really clear-cut features, he seemed intelligent and glowing with a sort of prim air. Hongbin: Oh, really? (laughs) Hyuk: But I was surprised he was actually really manly. Hongbin: Did you think I was cool? (laughs) Hyuk: Yes (shy) What are your positions in the group? Hyuk: Lately Hongbin acts out this old man character. The way he talks and his intonation is really like an old man!! He says things like “It’s not necessary to go that far.” “Be moderate” (TN: This has to do with speech styles so basically it’s like he is using language an old person would use haha) so I call him “Hong-grandpa.” (laughs) How do you feel about being called an old man? (laughs) Hongbin: (in Japanese) It’s fun… Hyuk: HAHAHAHA (explosive laughter) Hongbin: It’s fun to talk like that and I’m just fooling around, but to the other members I must just seem like an old man. (laughs) What type of character is Hyuk? Hongbin: He has the feeling of a troublemaker who doesn’t express himself with words similar to Crayon Shin-chan. He’s a mischievous boy who likes to pull pranks. What kind of pranks does he play? Hongbin: He focuses on me and Ravi. When we’re exercising, he tries to tickle us or when we’re lifting something heavy, he’ll punch someone in the side and run away (laughs) The things he does are really childish~ So you’re getting your butt kicked by Hyuk? Hongbin: No sometimes we fight back but he is usually happy about that and pulls even more pranks… So then you’re getting your butt kicked. Hongbin: Hmm.. I admit it. Hyuk: But really I think I trick Ravi more. I can’t get enough of how he reacts. Please tell us each other’s strong points. Hongbin: Hyuk is clear about what he wants to do so he is really passionate about practicing. He is so passionate about practicing, it seems like Ken said he is aiming for the position of main vocal.. Hyuk: No no! (laughs) Main vocalist would be too much. I’m working hard to match my hyungs. Do you ever think that maknae Hyuk is cute? Hongbin: Times like this (laughs) After everything, he goes against his elders.. Hyuk: I’m really not, really! Hongbin: Also he is really fussy about his parts. When I saw him practicing his part for “hyde” for three hours in one day, I thought “This kid is cute~” By practicing your part this much, are you just really aiming for main vocals? Hyuk: (panicking) I’m not! I’m not!! It’s my turn now, right? Hongbin is really cool, but he is also really attentive about our performances and he has a strong sense of responsibility. I respect him for that… it’s really great. Hongbin: Hyuk, you’re really good~ (laughs) The day Hyuk becomes the main vocalist might be near~ Hyuk: I’m not aiming for it! I’m not!! What kind of revenge is this, hyung? (laughs)
