|| I DID NOT write this. I thought it was a great AU and a great story in general, so I wanted to post it. Enjoy! Heres the original link: jasons.co.vu/post/79715324525/pilot-jason-and-airhostress-piper Piper smoothed down her navy blue skirt, tugged the lapels of her jacket down and pushed the door open, stepping out of the stall and crossing to the sinks. Her heels clicked on the faux-tile floor, the wheels of her small suitcase squeaked behind her. She washed her hands, rubbed them dry under the hand dryer and stood in front of the mirrors again, peering closely. She wore minimal make-up, powder foundation, concealer over the dark circles under her eyes, mascara; she unscrewed her lipstick and re-applied it. She recapped it and folded it back into her pocket, dabbed the corners of her mouth and smoothed her hair back. It was tied back in a tight bun at the base of her neck, secured with pins and a navy scrunchie. Satisfied, she grabbed the handle of her suitcase and walked from the public bathroom. Piper! There you are, her friend greeted as soon as she stepped through the door. Annabeth Chase stood in front of her, looking pristine in her navy blue flight attendant outfit, golden hair pulled back into a low bun. Pipers best friend for three years tapped her watch. Come on, beauty queen, the plane wont wait for us. It would, of course. But that was Annabeth’s line. One of her many lines. Piper bumped her friend’s hip with her own and started walking towards gate three, where their plane would be departing from. Annabeth fell in line next to her, pulling her own suitcase and already chatting away. So, Dubai should be fun. We’re there for forty eight hours, Annabeth. She shot a smirk Piper’s way. We’ve done a heck of a lot in half that time, Pipes. You packed your two piece right? The black one. Yep. Got your cash? Yep. Passport? Yep. Pants? Oh my god, Annabeth, are you my best friend or my mother? Nothing wrong with a checklist. Pants are important. Another Annabeth line. They had reached the gate now and were moving past queues of impatient passengers, using their tickets as fans and tapping their feet and hands as they shot annoyed glances at every member of staff who walks past. Annabeth nudged Piper with her elbow. I didn’t know Captain Awesome was piloting this flight. Piper looked up to see the two pilots walking towards the gate with their own suitcases. Her eyes were immediately drawn to the taller one, the one with broad shoulders underneath his jacket, perfect blonde hair, strong jaw, blue eyes, gorgeous. Jason Grace. Piper was absolutely in love with him. And of course, he had absolutely no idea. Nether did I, she muttered, elbowing Annabeth right back and keeping her face forward as they followed the two pilots and the other air hostesses through to the tunnel. The co-pilot, Percy Jackson, was Annabeths crush, making the whole coincidence seem very cliche. Piper honestly didnt know who she was referring to when she said Captain Awesome. Seriously though, Annabeth muttered, when are you ask him out? The run up is excruciating to watch. Youre like a puppy with its head stuck in a box. Thanks so much. And anyway, thats easy for you to say. Guys go out with you at the drop of a hat. Annabeth waved a hand. Irrelevant. Awesome isn’t going to wait around forever, you need to make a move. They had boarded the plane and were stowing their luggage. He’s not waiting around for me. Jason Grace is not interested in me, okay. Just drop it. Miss McLean? a voice interrupted from behind them and Piper froze. Can I talk to you for a moment? Annabeth’s ears were pink, her cheeks creased by the grin spreading across her face. She winked at Piper as she closed the luggage door and left, nodding to Jason as she went. Pilot, she murmured. Then they were alone. Piper turned slowly to face him. He was too close, his cologne filled her nose, she could see where he’d nicked himself shaving that morning. And then Piper was overwhelmed with the idea of Jason Grace in the morning; messy hair, rucked up shirt, the slightest stubble on his jaw and neck, bed creases on his face. You alright? he asked. She gulped and nodded. I’m good. Did you want to ask me something? She was amazed a coherent question actually made it out of her mouth and mentally high-fived herself. Yeah, um. Yes, I did. He scratched the back of his neck. Piper realized he was actually nervous and held back a smile. Youre staying in Dubai for a couple of days, right? Yeah. Um, how did you know that? His smiled nervously. I might have asked around. Piper found herself smiling. Really? He ran a hand through his hair and stared at a point over her shoulder. Yeah. And anyway, I’m gonna be there too. And I was wondering if you would like to get together. You...excuse me? I, uh… A date? With me? Oh. I mean, if you dont want to thats- Yes! she blurted. I mean, yes, I would love too, yes. Oh. He stepped back, blinked a few times, and smiled winningly. Her heart stopped with that smile. Great, thats great. Ill find you when we land and make plans. Make plans. Okay. Okay, he said, I should go, Ive got a plane to fly. Piper grinned. Yes you do.
