NUCHR is dedicated to fostering critical discourse on international human rights issues, by uniting student delegates with renowned activists, policy makers, and academics. This three-day summit is free and open to the public. In the past, the conference has focused on issues of international peacekeeping, forced migration, urban slums, global food security, and many other timely and pertinent issues in the field of human rights. We have featured distinguished speakers such as Dr. Barbara Harrell-Bond, Katherine Sierra (Vice President of the World Bank), Nicholas Kristof, Mark Hanis, Bernard Kouchner, Cherif Bassiouni and many more. As a delegate, you will be joining over forty undergraduate students from universities across the U.S. Together with distinguished academics, activists, and policy-makers from around the globe, delegates will examine the disproportionate impacts of environmental abuses and their effects on the most vulnerable communities. In addition, conference participants will analyze the compatibility and sustainability between economic development and environmental preservation and consider innovative solutions to these human rights issues. Speakers and delegates will also examine potential solutions to the current problems of inequality and accessibility, evaluate processes of sustainable development, and define the viability and applicability of environmental human rights. Delegates will not only share their experiences as they participate in specialized panels and topic-specific breakout sessions, but they will also have the opportunity to interact with prominent speakers, committed students, and Chicago based organizations.
