I REMEMBER THE RUSE CALLED CONSTITUTIONAL CONFERENCE Earlier this year, I told few folks here on this timeline that I will remind you later in the year that the constitutional conference embarked upon by GEJ was a diversionary tactic. I also said that it was a sham and just an attempt by GEJ to settle some disgruntled element and put some millions of naira in the pocket of this disgruntled folks. It is quite painful that along the line, credible people like Pastor Tunde Bakare and a whole lot of other people of high integrity got caught up in the jamboree. Now, my question is; what was the outcome of the conference and to what effect was the submission/recommendation of the conference utilised by the Jonathan administration? At that time, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a few others like my very self said the conference was a ruse but like all other haters of Asiwaju, he was called names, and they accuse him of insincerity. Now, who is sincere between Asiwaju and Jonathan? At least, he was bold enough to tell us frankly that it was a ruse and a joke! For months and immediately after the conference, the saTANist have been going round every nook and crany of this country selling their product-GEJ. Please, have you ever heard GEJ talk or refer to the conference since it closed and his recommendations submitted to him? In fact, did he even made an attempt to forward the recommendation, even if out of pretense to the National Assembly? (not that the NA would have done anything about it though.) Or, are you still thinking that he would still act on the recommendations? If you believe so, then you would believe am a white man from Finland! Election is in the air, GEJ has no time for any conference resolutions and just like some of us predicted, that conference has been deposited into the dust bin of history. Right now, GEJ is trying to fight for survival from the imminent hurricane Buhari that is about to be unleashed on him mercilessly. Many had cried foul about the usefulness of having it so close to the elections. Ben Nwabueze the erudite constitutional lawyer had said that “it was practically impossible for the President to combine efforts aimed at national transformation with contesting election.”……He went on to also state that “The two are so different because once you get involved in electioneering, you undermine your authority to lead the nation for national transformation”. He described them as “mutually antagonistic objectives of national rebirth, national greatness and national unity and the political ambition for re-election in 2015”. Well the usual Jonathanians who never accept any reproach for their god, called this eminent Nigerian all sorts of names…. Despite the millions spent on the exercise, what has come out of it? Despite extension after extension, what has come out of it…. It is still as muddled up as any of the various panels that our man has inaugurated since he came into power…. Yet some people will say his critics only criticize they don’t proffer solutions… is Nwabueze’s own not a case of a solution proferred??? Abi e dey wait for Malali again #SippingMyGoldLabel
