I THINK WE HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO…When science was not much known, people used to consider even Sun and moon as GOD. The daily Sunrise and Sunset , the journey between New moon and Full moon was all surprised to Human being. This was all beyond his explanation thus considered as GOD. This belief system extended to trees and animals as per their utility. Thus Hindu religion ‘The way of life’ has many tree and animal Gods. Later there were establishment of formal religions by some founder. The essentials were strictly for the reason to unite the people and form some community and have common life style. The due course of development of many religions also played the role of Judiciary. The leaders used to decide what is wrong and what is right. The one doing right was going to heaven and the one doing wrong was committing some sin. This is how our society was governed by religious leader and created law and order. Religion also played the role of education system as formal schools did not exist. The chanting of prayers gave vocabulary to people. It was a good memory exercise. Religion also took care of our life and death. The personal laws are also taking care of various rights, regarding marriage, property etc. Disposal of dead body is also taken care of. In today’s context we have formal Judiciary to decide between wrong and right. The wrong doer gets punished and good people get rewarded. Now there is no need to consider Sun and Moon as God as scientifically we have understood their existence. The trees and animals are no more Gods. Infact we don’t need to have any religion. All the functions which religion used to take care are replaced by formal institutions. We have schools and colleges for education. We have hospitals to take care of our health. And Judiciary takes care of law and order. There are lots of people don’t believe in God and not religious. Hindu itself is not religion technically and declared by Supreme Court. THEN WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MAKING CONVERSIONS? Can you imagine your Muslim neighbor suddenly becomes Hindu one day? How will you react if one of your relation suddenly changes religion? How the non Hindu relatives of those 100 families are supposed to react and have relation with these families who suddenly became Hindus? What will happen to their marriage ties and property rights? As per strict personal laws, the one leaving the religion and getting converted is also debarred from all their rights. Will these new converts have acceptance by Hindus? What will be their social status? Will they be Brahmins or which caste? Can you imagine ex-Muslim woman now carrying Pooja Thali and going to temples? What exactly she will do in temple? Will she be accepted by priest in temple? Will these families now celebrate Diwali instead of Id? I don’t think these things are so easy. Then why to do conversions? Don’t we have better things to do?
