I Walked Today 2014-10/13 https://youtube/watch_popup?v=f6nDKGlT5EM October 13, 2014 - This was my second day walking with the Rifton Tram. I met with a Physical Therapist named Carla who is going to write the evaluation and recommendation for me to obtain this device for use in our home. Im wearing a mask because Im just getting over a cold and its how I cover my cough. Plus, it helps me prevent catching another bug. We recorded this video near the end of a two hour session with the therapist. I am guessing that I walked about 40 to 60 feet today. I walked across that expanse three times in the two hours I was there using the Tram. My attendant was easily able to transfer me in and out of my wheelchair as well as to and from the toilet. With my arms in a better position and the center trunk support more snug than my previous trial, I was able to stand while my attendant adjusted my clothing to use the toilet. This is a significant achievement that will be very useful! I plan to continue weekly training sessions while we submit a request to Medicare to purchase the Tram. It is my intent to have each of my attendants come with me to at least one session so that by the time I receive the approval, everyone who works with me will have had the opportunity to learn and practice with me and the therapist before getting one at home. If, for some reason, its not covered by my insurance after appeals, thats when we will consider fundraising options. For those who missed my first installment of I Walked Today, here is a breakdown of the costs for the Tram and the accessories I will require.
