I accepted an invitation with Rhondda Plaid Cymru candidate Shelley Rees Owen from Royal Mail to visit one of their local offices in the busy time leading up to Christmas. We had some interesting conversations with the postal workers in the Clydach Vale offices. Some of the topics discussed included privatisation of their services, zero hours contracts, the care sector, the closure of Porth fire station as well as Wales doing more for ourselves and working to stand on our own two feet, trades unions and people’s plans for Christmas. They wont be getting much of a break - theyll be working Christmas Eve and again on the day after Boxing Day. So as your parcels arrive, think of those hard working post workers helping to get them to you on time. It was good to see some familiar faces there including some distant relatives. Keep up the good work all - Merry Christmas to each and every one of you and we want you to know that your work is much appreciated.
