I agree with DA Lyn Head. The State of Alabama must find a way to fund prosecutors and Courts. The Judges and I are told that we are to quit sending people to prison to reduce overcrowding. Send criminals to diversion programs, drug courts, and community corrections programs, abide by the ridiculous sentencing guidelines .. etc.. That takes much more time and manpower to babysit them.. when 5 years ago we sent criminals to PRISON where they belonged. Makes NO sense. Criminals walk the streets on probation and the DA and Courts are stripped of the money they need to prosecute and sentence criminals. The Etowah County Commission contributes $45,000.00 to my office and I am VERY thankful to them. They have no more money to contribute when they have roads to pave, Deputies that need a raise terribly, and other services they provide to the people of Etowah County. Please join me in asking our legislative delegation to explore abuses in the welfare system, and other entitlement programs and find the monies needed to ensure the safety of the citizens of Etowah County!
