I always ask this question, where did Jamaica went wrong for us to be in a very poor state of development in comparison to Singapore? In a time when Jamaica’s economy was among the fastest economies in the world, we received a loan from the World Bank of US $9.50 million in 1966, in order to facilitate the building of schools which was supposed to be a three years program. However, somehow along the line, the money was misused and had left Jamaica with an unpardonable debt. From that very day until now the economy of Jamaica has not recovered. This had inspired me to ask various questions and started to conduct my research pertaining to the misused of the USD $ 9.5 million. Where did the government err and what can be done to redeem Jamaica from the nuisance of economic stagnation and sluggishness in its growth? Who is to be blamed for the persistent degradation of our country’s economy, and continually placing us in debt and stifling our economy deceptively? How can we as a nation help in redeeming our country? Is this corruption?
