I always do better when i have a buddy to workout with a few times a week.... well tonight my friend Darryl and I decided to workout and get each other into a rythm and routine... heres the kicker.... i like to lift but DW likes to RUN and decides that for tonight we are just gonna go run around the outside of our neighborhood. Which is just about 4 freakin miles.... now for SOME OF YOU 4 miles is like a walk in the park? But for a guy like me 4 miles sounds about as fun as putting glass shards under my finger nails. Needless to say i sucked it up and DW was a great sport. He slowed down the pace for me and kept encoruaging me to get to one landmark at a time. We stopped to walk a couple times too (hey... i havent ran ran in like 5 years...like i said i would rather lift weights or do T25 of something like that). And i know that sometimes making progress means doing a few things that CHALLENGE YOU IN NEW WAYS. It felt good to have a local friend thats willing to put in a little work and is open to doing some things that i enjoy and having me do some of the things that he enjoys as well. Needless to say we have an 8 a.m. appointment with some Body Beast (glad its not leg day). And i now have a goal to run the entire way around the neighborhood without stopping.... one more streetlight at a time.
