I am BEYOND frustrated. The home we own in Florissant has had a renter for two years. Her lease was up June 31st and we have been going on a regular basis to try to evict her. We were given bad information from the phone number I called to see what the process was and have been trying ever since to get this woman out of our house so we could attempt to sell it. She refuses to go and weve been there multiple times with various officers following the process I was given. The officer was ready to evict her last Saturday, walk her out, and she begged for 5 more days. We relented. (suckers) Today we went back with another officer because they are still there. This officer called multiple people before even going to the door and as it turns out, the information I was given initially is shaky. She wasnt an expert in Section 8 and that person wouldnt be back until tomorrow. We tried simply to do a walk through and get pictures of our home to see if there was anything worth even saving. We had the lease in hand that verified we were allowed to do such. The squatter (not a renter or tenant anymore) refused to let us in. Refused. The officer read the part of the lease to her which showed we were allowed entrance and she still refused. Meanwhile, everyone inside the house was on the phone calling people to come over for back up and they started arriving. Because of the events in Ferguson yesterday, St Louis County is completely undermanned. The officer empathized with us, verified we were right and well within the legal rights of the lease but asked us to leave. Come back tomorrow, when more officers will be available. It was becoming a hostile situation. MORAL OF THE STORY - DO NOT EVER, EVER, RENT TO SHAWNA MCCALL OR WORK WITH IDA WASHINGTON (the real estate agent who Shawna said today told her to sign things even though she never intended to pay simply so she could get the house.) Tell your friends, tell them to tell their friends. It INFURIATES me that even though we were well within our legal rights, because there were not enough officers available for non emergency situations, we had to leave. We put so much into that house. It was a wreck when we bought it and we worked and shed blood, sweat and tears to make it beautiful. We have been excellent landlords and extremely accommodating. Were losing our home. It will be auctioned August 20th because we couldnt afford to float two loans and this woman refuses to leave. Shell be put someplace else equally nice within days, paid for by the state. Meanwhile it will be years before well be able to buy a home. I know it sounds juvenile but its not fair. Shawna McCall/Ida Washington = bad news. Stay far, far away.
