I am EXHAUSTED!!! Sixty-six year old Jews dont do two a day, at least not this one. But what fun shows we had - both were great though very different. We had a full house for the matinee and a more than full house for the evening. It was a potpourri of a show as all our anniversary shows are - it was SO much fun to do three of my What If parodies - its ten years since we did the revue and the laughs were as long and loud at todays shows as it was back in 2004. And our cast - every number was a highlight and got amazing reactions - Evan Buckley Harris delighting with On Your Toes and then recreating our Lil Abner duet, Namely You with Maddy Claire Parks. Her solo on Somebody Somewhere/My Heart is so Full of You was breathtaking. Hadley Belle Miller duetting with me on Youre Just in Love - way too much fun and this little ten-year-old is an amazing talent. Jenna Lea Rosen duetting with Sami Staitman on my song Pals - a real highlight for me and what a reaction it got at both shows - then Jenna hitting it out of the park (what else is new) with You There in the Back Row and Sami being completely captivating and endearing and adorable on How Lovely to Be a Woman/One Boy. Robert Yacko, stellar on Joey, Joey, Joey and then recreating Finishing the Hat (he was the first LA Georges). Then there was Kerry OMalley who I just love to pieces - doing one of the best Knowing When to Leave ever, and recreating her Love, You Didnt Do Right By Me from White Christmas - fantastic. And my dearest Bruce Vilanch, simply one of the funniest human beings on Earth and someone else I absolutely adore doing Be a Phony from I Had a Ball. Then there was our mighty four - Kimberly Hessler, Travis Leland, Bruce Merkle and Adrienne Visnic - doing all the What Ifs. And, as always, John Boswell doing his usual brilliant work holding us all together. My lovely Adryan Russ, without whom I would have been committed ages ago - co-producer extraordinairre. And Michael Sterling, the host of hosts for giving us our home. So many wonderful people in attendance at the two shows, including Karen Morrow, Michael Kerker, Sharon McNight, Jackie Joseph, Shelly Markham, Richard and Elizabeth Sherman, Barry Pearl and Kay Cole - and everyone else. Our audiences are the best in town - they do NOT pander to us - they dont relentlessly woo-hoo every song - they give us honest applause and when we get a cheer or an ovation its real and boy do we appreciate it. And onward we go to October and our 50th show.
