However, there are conflicting reports and suggestions by the medical fraternity. YES, you can donate blood, if you have no diabetic complications such as diabetes-related eye, blood vessel related or kidney problems and a bigger YES if your diabetes is well controlled through diet and oral medication. But if you require bovine (cattle-derived) insulin to control your diabetes, please discuss with your Diabetologist or Family Physician to know more about your eligibility to donate blood.
