I am appalled that less than 30 minutes ago, I stumbled upon a homeless man who had just suffered seizures and was pleading for someone to call 911. Only two other people stopped to see if he was okay, one of who asked him a few questions and left once the policeman approached us, the other made sure I was calling 911 and went on her way. I know we all have trains to catch and places to be but no one who saw him have the seizures stopped and certainly no one else stayed until the paramedics came (though I enjoyed my brief conversation with him). It breaks my heart that in Toronto the Good, on a busy intersection, no one had the humanity to stop for a few minutes. I didnt get to ask him his name but I will ask that we all take a minute to think about the actual people underneath the labels of homelessness and mental health. This man deserved more than he got today, and I hope we can all can all learn to see the difference between doing whats good vs. whats right.
