I am boggled by this outcome. I understand people, especially older people, wanting to keep their taxes down, but by voting no to this they are voting to keep letting their property value go down also. Look at all the empty houses in montague, no new people with families want to move here and a lot of that reason is the schooling issues. I hear a lot of people talking about moving to ensure a good education for their children, thats not exactly good for the town, tax payers or property value. We pay our taxes for a New Jersey education and end up with our children going out of state. Now these kids will be bounced around to three different school districts before they graduate highschool. And any parent with a child with any kind of special needs knows that NJ offers a superior program for special needs children then Port. All to save a couple hundred dollars a year for the next 20 years?
