I am currently far from Catonsville, in the Black Hills of South Dakota. But there was some buzz on the Catonsville COPS listserve asking why there were several police cars and a helicopter in the neighborhood of Rolling Road and Gary, just a few blocks from our house. We got a response from the Baltimore County Police: "On Friday, after High School let out, there were four thefts of cell phones where a subject would ask to use a cell phone and take off with it. We had limited suspect information. On Monday it happened again. This time we caught three out of the four and have identified the fourth. There was a lot of police presence in the area of Macgruder, Mellor and Rolling. Citizen involvement of sightings was extremely helpful in the apprehension of these thieves. They were NOT from the Catonsville area. .... "Officer Bill Rubie "PC-01 Wilkens Outreach "410 744-1584" Five cars and a helicopter for stolen cell phones? Really????? And in the end it was citizen sightings that proved most effective? (shaking my head)
