I am delighted that after lobbying Bay of Plenty Regional Council for 8 years, to "use their equity in the Port of Tauranga shareholding" to fund increased Econonmic Development across the the Bay has finially been announced. Of the four projects named last week, The SCION Innovation Centre is one of them, this will create a Centre of Excellence in forestry and Wood processing in Rotorua. The SCION Innovation Centre will receive a $2.5m grant from the BOP Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF) to leverage further funding from within. Great news for Rotorua and our huge employment opportunities for the future
