I am down 8 lbs from my last weigh in! That is amazing! 2 weeks! 8 pounds! Something to celebrate! I also learned that our body needs protein. As I started this journey I went in with an attitude I have done this before, I was on Weight Watchers Thing is you always need to allow yourself to learn new things! My coach must be learning PATIENCE with me! (joke) I am so eager to ask why, what! After I shush up he explains I lost muscle! WHY! WHY! Our body needs protein and I am lacking that! So what do I do??? Do I come home cry? NO I read, listen , and change! I start weighing my protein (chicken) I start changing things up ... Why is protein important!!!!???!!! I will tell you why: Proteins are astonishing nutrients because they are so fundamental to our very architecture as humans. Our cells and organs, our muscles, our connective tissue, and even our bones could not hold together as the key body parts they are without the help of protein. This importance of protein to our very structure is only one function played by proteins, however. Proteins are equally important to our metabolism because all enzymes in our body that help trigger chemical reactions are proteins. Many of our most important regulatory hormones, like insulin, are also proteins. So are many of the key molecules in our immune system as are the major molecules used to carry nutrients around our body. Whether they are structural proteins, immunoproteins, hormonal proteins, transport proteins, or enzymes, proteins are of utmost importance to our health.
