I am going to use my birthday to post a message which is truly - TopicsExpress

I am going to use my birthday to post a message which is truly where my heart is today and is where my thoughts have been for years. I don’t really know what a Christian is, much less a Muslim or Hindu. I do believe in God or at least a divine deity. I think it is fair and quite accurate to say this deity goes by many names in the languages of the world. If Allah is what you prefer fine, or perhaps Jehovah or even Elohim. So why this sudden epiphany this Sunday? All the killing in the world I guess, I mean the unspeakable and undeniable slaughter of men, women and children from the markets in Syria full circle around the globe to the Philippines. The one common theme? That’s right God. Christians must die, Shia Muslims must die, Sunni Muslims must die and the list goes on. My “God” does not want anyone to die or be killed in his or her name. My God loves the Aborigines and the lost tribes of the Amazon as well as all Muslims, Christians and Jews. Gay or straight, white or black, right or left handed, doesn’t matter. Now what about the going slaughter by ISIS and other extremists groups? That’s the real question isn’t it? Remember I’m a military guy that does not mean I enjoy war or killing, but my thought process operates in a manner where I recognize cause and effect. The Taliban and Al-Qaida are still operational but are now being trumped by ISIS. I would like to tell you that everything will be fine but that would be a lie. Everything is not going to be fine and this unrepentant killing is going to get worse, a lot worse. I do not believe there is a military answer to it nor do I believe there is a political one. Do I believe we should be involved? Sorry but I am not going to answer that, because we (the entire world) are already involved and the rest is simply details/statistics. What’s my answer then? God. It all starts with God and ends with God. If you can’t follow the original Ten Commandments try these; Love your family and forgive them. Heck forgive me for stupid stuff I have done in my past. Pay it forward, give a homeless person a box of donuts and a 5 dollar bill. Give your daughter, spouse or neighbor an extra hug (just because). Thanks for all the wonderful birthday wishes and I will try and practice what I preach. As for me, I will spent time outside petting my dog Roux and scratching her butt (she likes that) and running the hose over her. I will talk with my best friend and life partner “Nat” and watch and listen with amazement at Becca’s unprecedented intelligence. Although only in 11 grade, my beautiful daughter Becca got an invite to an MIT orientation class in New Orleans (Yep, she it that smart). I’ll also meet with my older daughter Katie who is still trying to get a grip on life and living on her own. While I cannot say I approve of all her decisions, I have always been and will always be her Daddy. Peace Ya’ll
