I am going to write a letter within next 2 weeks on a redevelopment/gentrfication project on Seward Park area of Lower east side. Yea no surprise about this scam. I have a long history with Seward Park area going back to when I lived in Lower east side. Not the first time city of New York has come up with scemes on Seward park area they did this when Ed Koch was mayor of New York city I went to meetings on that as a youth in NYC. Anyway white ethnic groups have long hated this area they prevented a low income Housing Proect from being build in 1970s because they hated ave d area commmunity that was controled by black community and still is controled by black community. The racism of white ethnics is clear and now you got pro gentrification minorities that want to make money on Seward Park area and they got NYC mayor Bloomberg pushing his scam on this. I new when Margaret Chin won democrat primary they would push this scam. I plan on challenging this rdevelopment/gentrfication scheme. I have studied the developers and alleged "community leaders" liek people on grand street settlement and education alliance yea they were no good in the 1970s and they are even worse today. I also this is an attempt to destroy ave d communities an area I grew up. More scams, lies and dishonesty. Seward park area needs real redevelopment not this scam. It is sad that the plan that NYC mayor John Lindsay came up with never went through it was plan done for communities of Lower east side and minority communities were part of it. yea jewish middle class that hated black people on ave d prevented it I was there as a kid I saw it. WHite ethnics have done all kinds of gnetrfication schemes like Alpahabet city and east village those were designed to weaken and destroy Puerto rican communities on Ave a, b, and c. Most amazing stuff I saw was how Ave d black communities prevented it from being gentrified amazing stuff they have battled gentrifiers, stop and frisk, racist mayors, council person that hate them like Chin and others, white gentry racism and other schemes. I learned a lot about process of urban organizing from these communities somehow they find a way to organize regardless of the obstacles I learned about importance of organizing in the projects from ave d people. Amazing how whites are scared of ave d today I saw that in May. People see ave d as a place of drug dealers and criminals yea white racism in action but they are more than that they are people who know how to do community building and in the 1970s did such good organizing in the projects on ave d I saw it in person Great story ave d beat the odds and defeated gentrification. This is why today I am sending a letter challenging the gentrfication project of seward park area yea ave d so important to anti gentrication struggle like black community in Bushwick on broadway another community I have history with. More on this later this week.
