I am grateful for today, as I will be spending the bulk of it with the love of my life: The incomparable Miss Bonnie! The two of us are planning lunch with our adopted son Jeremy, whose company we always enjoy every much. It is also the final editing day before final mixdowns for the Hejira reunion CD project with my engineer and dear friend Evan Smalley--by the way a gifted musician and an wholly inventive engineer. However, it also how much a situation can change in just 24 hours! Last night, we received the news from Jeremy that the manager of the apartment building where my son resided prior to his arrest has relented: Chris has his tacit approval to move back into the complex. This means everyone my son now has a home plan to present to his parole officer on Monday! Furthermore, at his final court hearing on Thursday, he will be able to present to Judge Messina concrete evidence that he has secured gainful employment; has entered an aversion counseling program; and, found an independent place to live--all well before the 60 days he was given to do so! Score three-points for Chris! If all goes well, this also means my son could be out of the halfway house by the end of the week--which means Christopher will spend Christmas with his parents! My fingers are crossed so tight that my knuckles are turning white! And that, my friends, is a prospect worth hoping for!
