I am honored to have been nominated for the ALSA - TopicsExpress

I am honored to have been nominated for the ALSA #IceBucketChallenge. ALS is a terrible disease and I pray we find a cure to it as we continue to live under the effects of humanity’s fall into sin. The very necessary work of researching the causes, treatments, and possible cures is truly something worth supporting. But as with all work, we must be certain that in alleviating the pain of our fellow man that we are doing so in a God honoring way. From my limited research and understanding of the ALSA, they are not an organization that I, as a Christian, can support. The ALSA performs stem cell research through the use of embryonic stem cells (alsa.org/research/about-als-research/primer-on-stem-cells.html) and, in one line of study, the body of an aborted child (see AIG link below). Embryonic stem cells are obtained by fertilizing a human egg with human sperm. It is the creation of life for the purpose of research for the suffering of one person and death for the person created. The prophet Jeremiah gives us the words of the Lord as He called this man into service: “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jer. 1:4-5) I do not understand much science, but it seems very clear that the Lord God is telling Jeremiah that His life was precious, in the womb and before. The life of every person, from those just created to those suffering with ALS or any other disease, is precious to a God that so graciously deals with us in our rebellion, suffered and died for us, and calls us into fellowship with Him. Please pray for those suffering from ALS and those researching the disease, but at the same time, by mindful that in our zeal to help our neighbor that we do not become guilty of supporting the taking of unborn life. I will not be tagging anyone in this challenge, but if you have been challenged then I encourage you to share the link below from my friends at Answers in Genesis and stand up for mankind, especially those that are killed before they have a chance to stand. blogs.answersingenesis.org/blogs/georgia-purdom/2014/08/20/pouring-cold-water-on-the-als-ice-bucket-challenge/?utm_source=aigsocial08202014pouring&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=facebooktwittergooglelinkedin
