I am in need of any and all advice and guidance I can get on how to set up my sewing/quilting space.... I have been blessed with more than I could have hoped for with a basement and a spare room just for me! The basement is approx 21 by 19 and it already has the long arm table set up and nearly its longest set up. I have made a list of everything that I have and need to make a place to store and am stumped with really how to get to the next stage of setting it up! I know I need and/or want the following work stations: An ironing area, cutting area, project planning area, design wall, reading office area for laptop printer books and magazines, sewing area will need to be actually 2 distinct spots one for piecing and regular sewing and then a small station for the embroidery machine, would like to also have a buddy machine set up near the main machine for when a friend is over and wants to stitch (heck I have machines enough to furnish a sewing class), lastly I think I want a big comfy unsewing chair too! What would you ladies do with the chance to set up a quilting/sewing space from scratch? How would you do it and is it different then what your doing now? What mistakes should I be careful to avoid? Any thing that I mustnt overlook or any other been there done that experience will teach us sort of lessons you can give me the benefit of is appreciated. Having a talented and handy guy who will build me just about anything I need all that is left is to figure out what I need! We have been in new house for about a month and I am going through withdrawals so I need to get to stitching soon and all that is in my way is (see picture). It has about 80% of the crafty crap in it at the moment as the first picture shows what it looked like when I first set the long arm up before... Then I emptied the laundry rooms boxes and then the garage into it since they will need to be in it eventually. Now i just have an overwhelming disaster and serious need for help in deciding on layout so I can get to putting it in order!
