I am leaving facebook after today friends to undertake a bucket list item. The Way of St. James has called for many a year and after watching the film "The Way" with Martin Sheen (on netflix by the way and well worth watching) I knew it was time. We fly to Madrid then train to our beginning point where we will walk 150 kilometers with other Pilgrims. Wish I had more time but this will have to do for now. Fourteen miles a day should test our physical and spiritual discipline but is that not what life is truly about anyway. I am carrying three things along the way...to leave at three different Holy Locations. 1. the ashes of my Golden Retiriever "Copper" who would have loved this trip. They will be sprinkled along the way. 2. A rock from "snake creek" where many of my early years were played out in Newnan Georgia and left in honor of all my friends growing up and the people who helped raise me in this world. 3. A t-shirt of my Fathers which I will leave at the monument to St. James in honor of what my father taught me about perserverance, God, and how to stand back up strong and straight after a fall. . So farewell my friends and "Buen Camino"!
