I am neither cynical nor a pessimist. But my head hangs in shame - TopicsExpress

I am neither cynical nor a pessimist. But my head hangs in shame at the degeneration of the political leaders across the parties in our country. I do not intend to generalize but the indifference of most leaders, some of whom I know personally and hold in high esteem, towards our Parliament and the people of this country has betrayed the hope I had in them. I am reminded of the famous words of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru to the Constituent Assembly while offering a stirring tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death, he said: "In ages to come, centuries and maybe millennia after us, people will think of this generation when this man of God trod on earth....Let us be worth of him." Have they been worthy of him? Have we been worthy of him? The Congress failed to govern and BJP did not allow Parliament to function. How are the two different? Both have put the country to shame. Will we now reward BJP for disrupting Parliament by electing it to power or will we reward Congress for mis-governance by re-electing it. Do we have no other option?
