I am not a Grammys fan. I am not up on the latest actors/movies, etc. Its just not on my radar, though when I do get to watch a good movie, I love it, and then I have to Google the actors because I want to know who they are, where they came from, etc. So suffice it to say, I did not watch the Grammys to know what went on there, we no longer have cable in our home, so I cant watch the Grammys even if I wanted to. But this article caught my attention. The writer of this article speaks to how we are musically created, even if we dont play an instrument or recognize perfect pitch. Music without lyrics touches lives, music with lyrics touches lives, we need to ask ourselves why is that? Is it because God so designed us to the most intimate fiber to stir even just a note within us toward Him. I believe that is so. The old testament speaks to that often. I can listen to an instrumental of Amazing Grace and my mind begins to recite the lyrics, or perhaps it is better said that my heart begins to recite the lyrics. After all, it is my heart that is touched by the words to Amazing Grace. I believe that worship music is so important because it is often what touches a heart, it is what can stir me, a sinner, to feel the presence of God within me, calling me back to Him because He gave his sons life up for me. This is why I understand the music within a worship service to be so important. I love how the author of this article speaks to the way music plays in our spiritual beings, though I have no idea who this man is, but I assume he must be a Christian music artist of some sort based on his words. In case you dont want to read the entire article, here is a snippet of what he said. Because, as human beings, we were created by God to have an emotional response to music. Its in us. Its in our DNA. Whether or not you can sing, or whether or not you can play an instrument, you cannot deny the effect that music has on the human heart. Our emotions dictate our morals. Our morals dictate our convictions. Our convictions dictate how we learn, teach, parent, instruct, how we look at politics, etc. I think for everyone, there has been a song or multiple songs that youve heard at some point in your life that have Wowed you...maybe it was the lyrics, or the melody, or the instrumentation, or the beat. Music has the power to dictate our emotions. Some music really makes me happy. Some can help me relax. Some music can make me cry. There are so many ways music can affect us. It can be our greatest asset, or our greatest downfall depending on how we use it. And to that last sentence, I will say or dont use it (music). https://facebook/gilmanmatt/posts/10151881298907816
