I am not a big fan of this provision The law requires anyone who wishes to raise chickens to have all adjoining property owners and tenants sign a consent form. Only with the green light from neighbors can a resident receive the $84 permit, valid for five years. This provision does nothing but pit neighbor against neighbor in relationships that may be already strained. What if a neighbor(s) moves, do the new owners now get a say in it? I think this is the chickens way out for the Council members. While Im happy residence of Downers Grove IL can now keep a backyard flock (in some cases), I think Council members could have done a better job with this one...
