I am not a novice with minis. And I know how the training. I show exclusively with one mare. I know she trusts and respects me, but she is so independent, it makes it hard to really gain a trusting partnership. I found that by talking to her throughout all of our work sessions, even when we are running around through courses. Shes finally learning to listen to me first, before she does her own thing. I also stop frequently to give her breaks where Ill pat her and talk to her, and Ive found she enjoys our training sessions much more now. So if there is anyone else out there struggling to gain partnership, or their horse isnt enjoying the time. Talk, talk, talk, and give lots of cuddly breaks! ;)
