I am not defending Parkways position in this case because I do not know entire story, but the LHSAA has got to come up with different types/degrees of punishments. Parkway is one of the better teams in the state and to penalize those kids and coaches for a freshman backup qb who only played when games were already decided is, in my opinion, not fulfilling the intent of the rule. This is 2nd Time the Panthers have been penalized. There are thousands of high school athletes across our state, and, unfortunately, many do not have what most of us call a home. They shuffle from one house to another where ever they can find a decent place to sleep. The LHSAA is not capable financially nor adequately staffed to find every flaw that may or may not be happening. Heck, even with this case, no one was even sent to Shreveport to investigate. If you cannot adequately enforce and patrol a rule, do away with that rule. Another thing is there needs to be a deadline when investigations can be turned in. These whistle blowers waiting to the last few weeks of a season to turn a team in are sorry. It not only affects Parkway but affects power ratings in several classes with these forfeits, giving teams a win that they do not rightfully deserve or have earned.
