I am not happy any more, I was a minute ago but now sad! Jamaica was brilliant, I returned last night and went to bed, woke this morning feeling really good so posted a picture with the message Happy Sunday everyone but it not, is it? not for the family of the young teenager shot dead in Hackney recently! I just saw the headline and wanted to cry, say sorry to her friends and relatives, because this is not a happy day. What can we do to stop this in our communities, what can I do? with all this fame and blessings that is given to me, what can I do, am I doing enough? I spend most of my time visiting schools, colleges, universities, prisons and other institutions but is it enough, am I talking to the right youths? The thousands I meet at these places are (or seems to be) good kids that are inspired and want to do well and become role models themselves...but what about the few, the tiny minority who are hiding in the shadows, the one who dont come out to see me when i am on my School of life tour or when out at black history month events, the ones who are unimpressed by myself or by Tim Campbell or Idris Alba etc etc, how do we reach them! Will they listen, will they change? I know Jamaica has its own problems, while there youths were been killed but I feel this one more because its on my patch, I live and work in London, those responsible for this merciless killing their parents probably raved with me in my time playing on Coxsone sound system in and around Hackney/East London back in the day. Im asking them what can we do? How do we reach out to this minority of our community, the vast majority of our children up and down the country are good kids, now, today I feel tired of talking to them, they are fine and will have a brilliant life but we know who I am talking about, if we are been honest (even parents, they know them, they know who im talking about) if we are truly been honest lets reach out to them, its never too late....Im done.
