I am not opposed to a discourse that may lead to review of our Constitution to strengthen democracy and cross ethnic and regional participation in the State. As the nation evolves and various aspects of the Constitution are put to test, Kenyans will determined areas that may need strengthening or repeal. There is however everything wrong with allowing the politicians, whether in Jubilee or Cord, to take-over this discourse and use it to package their selfish agenda for retaining or acquiring power, at the expense of the interest of the nation. How come the defenders of the Presidential system during the review process are today turning into zealots of parliamentary system while those who sued for Parliamentary system and today the High Priests of the Presidential system. For ordinary citizens, who should organize themselves into a social movement within the civil society, the rallying call must be to protect the gains, and incase of any referendum, to stop mutilation and actually gain more grounds in democracy, transparency, accountability, participation and institutional strengthening. We must redefine the narrative if our interests are to be protected as a Nation.
