I am not spokesman for the Columbus Fire Department, or Local 67. I am an EMS worker. CDC prescribed guidelines does not prevent the spread of Ebola. I know it, and now those that read this do too. If someone in our department tells us, or tells you that we are ready to handle Ebola patients with our current protective kits, they may be mistaken. Health care worker at Dallas Presbyterian Hospital, deemed a low risk by the CDC, following CDC guidelines (gown, gloves, mask and shield) now has Ebola. Dallas Presbyterian is now on diversion. Bottom line...gown, gloves, mask and shield did not prevent the spread of this virus. So, are we really ready?
