I am officially a fan of Rajat Sharma from now on. I had never really liked his character for all 15-20 years we are seeing him on silver screen. Today the kind of journalism we are seeing mushrooming all around, is mainly news-anchor centric. In this Arnav-Barkha model of show-hosting, or even the Thapars, he or she taking over as an above-all celebrity in any discussion, constantly bullies around political, intellectual personalities until they give in & say what he/she wants them to say. Their method of not letting the people complete less than half of their answers irritates me even if the speakers they are cornering do not even remotely share my school of thought, for instance, say Kashmiri separatists! But Rajat sharma in his Adalat model never falls short of literally grilling people & at times emarrassing them on-camera with a dose of bitter reality. At the same time, his manner is not hurried, haphazard or bullish - but rather composed, instigating yet witty. And none of his subjects can ever complain he didnt give them enough chance to explain themselves. And the best part I like about it is, very much creditably he does it all in beautiful, chaste Hindi. The NaMo episode just ahead of the 2014 general elections & one with 100% Muslim representation immediately after the Modi victory were amongst the masterpieces. Now Im waiting to view the latest Owaisi griller Adalat show as its not yet uploaded on Youtube.
