I am planning an extreme adventurous overnight trip to AlAhas City, 6th/7th February. Who is interested? Price (inclusive of hotel and food): 1200SR About the Area: Al Ahsa is the largest oasis in Saudi Arabia and believed to be the largest in the world, covering an area of 2500 square kilometers. It lies in the southern part of the eastern province, 300 km east of Riyadh. AlAhsa means “the sound of water underground”. The reserves of underground water there helped the area develop its agricultural businesses, and it is renowned for date palms of the best. Historically, the area was central to commerce, as part of a trade route between the West and the Orient. An impressive number of historical sites give witness to the area’s importance. - AlAqeer sea port is situated on the Arabian Gulf in Eastern AlAhsa. In the past this port was key for fishing and transport, vital for trade and the local economy, but it is now better known as a popular leisure destination for locals. The region also includes the giant Empty Quarter desert, which has the world’s largest oil fields and connects Saudi Arabia to Qatar, the UAE, and Oman.
