I am posting this because my father, Sidney Falconer, was one of the first to hit the beach in Normandy His buddy, Dink Henke, was the first and immortalized as such. My Dad, as many of his comrades, did not talk much of the horrors of war, though he was there from the very beginning to the very end ~ in the British Commando & the 34th Infantry Division in this battle. He did talk of D-Day & Normandy. This memorial is very poignant to me.
