I am preparing to begin my first year as a beekeeper in the spring, and I have a question about foundation. I purchased new langstroth hives that came with wax dipped plastic foundation. I have heard that this is the easiest thing to start with, but also that the bees dont like it too much and are slow to draw out comb on it. I was thinking of popping out the foundation on every other frame, and seeing how that goes, or maybe not using any plastic at all. I would love for that to work, as I am not a fan of plastic in general and try my best to minimize it in my life. Maybe a strip of wax foundation just at the top? But how would I attach it? Thanks in advance for your wisdom!
