I am proud of the fact that I have never unfriended someone on - TopicsExpress

I am proud of the fact that I have never unfriended someone on here because I disagree with their views. I have many Facebook friends that I argue with on the regular (you know who you are) and Im glad theyre the same way (at least with me). I think its important not to narrow down your social circle to only people who agree with you. If you never get told youre wrong about something, and have to defend it, you never learn anything new. Those of you who know me outside of Facebook, know that Im a pretty different person in real life. I dont go around talking about politics, religion, and current events until the room clears out. Im easy going, focused on my kids and wife, and love to have a good time, a good drink, and a good meal. Then usually another good drink. Of the many important lessons my parents taught me, one of my favorites is Dont dish it out if you cant take it. I strive to behave that way. Sometimes I fail, but I like to think Ill admit when I do, and try to correct it. If a person is going to share their personal beliefs in a public forum like this, they should expect comment. One of the most frustrating things is when someone makes a post or shares something and then gets angry when someone else presents an opposing viewpoint. If you want to hold your personal beliefs dear, and never have them questioned, I suggest you dont share them publicly. Im writing this because I have been deleted by a lot of people due to my positions. Even some family members. Its lead to some soul searching about whether I should continue to fight the good fight or Be an insufferable know-it-all (depending on how you feel about me). Because as cool as it sounds to say I dont care what other people think about me, anyone who says that is lying. After spending some time thinking about it, Ive decided that Im not going to change a damn thing. For every person whos deleted me, theres been a person who thanked me. Ive even had people tell me that my posts taught them something they didnt know before, which is a really cool thing to hear. So, in closing, if youre just here to LOL at cat pictures, and look at and post pictures of your family, friends and their kids, more power to you. That is perfectly fine. Im here to do all that too, and its an amazing thing, this social network. But Im also here to chew bubblegum, and talk about whats going on in this big old world, and Im dang near out of bubble gum... #sorrynotsorry
