I am shocked!!! Dad has been home this weekend and last night we had “The Talk”. First, he explained what this particular trip to the vet that everyone is recommending really involves, and I can tell all of you right now that there will be absolutely no “little snip” or “fix” or anything else involving sharp instruments on my dangly bits. No way, no how!!! I looked at Dad as imploringly as I could and he shuddered and said “It’s all right, my boy, I’ll protect you.” Phew! *Huuuge sigh of relief* Besides, as long as I am a show dog, I have to remain intact, so to speak. I think I’ll start working harder on my performance in the ring. And then he told me an even more shocking thing: If you play with a girl when she smells interesting, she will have puppies! Imagine that, eh! I can’t help myself, I still want to be with Ruby, but I don’t think I’m ready to be a father just yet. For one thing; how am I going to support a family? I’d have to quit lazing around all day and get out and get a job instead, probably at some place where they make you work as a dog and then you come home and sleep as a log and there’ll be no fun at all anymore. Besides, as Dad pointed out, Ruby is much too young to become a mum. I mean, she was a puppy herself just a little while ago. After all this, I had another sniff at Ruby and decided that she didn’t smell THAT interesting after all.
